Joel Barber's Personal and Complete Collection of Waterfowl Decoys
The authors description of wild fowl decoys is 'water-bourne forms of carving. This book holds a wealth of knowledge in the history and collection of wild bird decoys. 140 black and white illustrations are included in the book along with the written descriptions and history of each one. The are four illustrations in color. You will find wonderful examples of early American craftsmanship and wood carved sculptures. Drawings are combined with an easy to follow section on decoy making, enabling the wild fowl hunter to make decoys of any type. There are the solid type, cork, balsa wood, hollow, snipe and other sorts.
The book shows some slight surface and edge wear and a bit of soil around the edges from handling. Overall condition is very good - no missing pages, no markings. This is a Dover Publishing 1st edition with a 1954 copyright. Originally published by Windward House, Inc in 1934. This is a great book for antique collectors, duck hunters and others who simply love wooden decoys.
