Cover Photo: Hunting Snipers, Cover Title: From Ireland to Italy With 34th Division Veterans
This American Edition of Yank Magazine is dated February 2, 1945. Volume and number are not visable due to the address label, which I don't what to try to remove. The magazine contains lots of photos and articles containing many names of GI's who served in WWII. By and for the men in the service, these books are a wonderful reminder of the dedication and sacrifice that our servicemen and women have made. The book is in good condition however the paper used for these magazines is not the best quality and will need to be handled carefully. The edges are worn and have some tears and nicks. There is an inch and a half tear on several of the pages including the pinup page. The binding is rough and starting to separate but still together and all pages are complete.
Articles Include:
- Iron Man Battalion by Sgt. Joe McCarthy, YANK Staff Correspondent - The old-times of this 34th Division outfit have sweated it out longer than any other infantry men in Europe - three years overseas with 350 days spent in the front lines of Tunisia and Italy.
- Icland Ain't by Sgt. John Moran, YANK Staff Writer - When the first soldiers landed here at the request of the Icelandic Government in the summer of 1941, they were surprised to find a country with little more December snowfall than New Jersey and only two months of the year yielding weather cold enough for ice skating.
- Yanks at Home Abroad - The soldier speaks: Should the GIs of this war have a veteran's organization of their own?
- Theater in War Time by Sgt. Georg N Meyers, YANK Staff Writer - Show people will never forget the year 1944. Thousands of men and women from the legitimate theater were overseas in uniform - actors and actresses, writers, scene designer, stage hands - and all looked back in wonderment at what war had done to their business. And well they might, because those remaining at work behind the footlights have hoisted stage plays to their greatest height of popularity since the movies started talking.
- Break-Through Tales by Sgt. Ed Cunningham, YANK Staff Correspondent - The first impact of the Kraut counter offensive gave the infantrymen of the 84th Division and some Cub pilots plenty to do and to talk about.
- Mail Call
- Cpl. Bizzles' Busy Day - by Sgt. Grant Robbins - YANK fiction.
- Sad Sack Cartoon by Sgt. George Baker
- What's Your Problem?
- Camp News
- YANK Pin-up Girl - Lizabeth Scott
- The Poets Cornered
- GI Tex Rickard - by Sgt. Burett Evans
- Cartoon Back Cover - Cartoon writers: Sgt. Willard G. Levitas, M/Sgt. Ted Miller, Sgt. Michael Ponce de Leon, Cpl. Bill Keane
